Why would I even take the time?
Let's say I have antivirus software, a hardware firewall, and a software firewall, and I lay off of Microsoft applications. I also have a stable environment where everything I use works. What does using Windows Update buy me besides taking time away that could be spent doing anything else? By the way, I have repaired more than Windows installation where Windows Update on automatic rendered the machine unusable.
