I'm not anti-Microsoft or anything...
...but I'm really dissapointed with the quality and support of Visual Studio since 2002. They don't seem to care about developers, ironically the ones more qualified to judge quality than end users.

Service Pack 1 for VS 2002 has finally been released earlier this year. Hello? Is anybody still using VS 2002 anymore? What is the point? God knows when a service pack for VS 2003 will be available.

The company that I work for switched to VS 2003 a year ago, so they obviously didn't rush into it. VS 2003 was touted as a big service pack that we were supposed to have received for free anyway, but in wasn't even that. Sure, there were more features, the compiler was more standards compliant, but the same old stupid IDE bugs were still there. And I'm not just talking minor glitches either. When you hover the mouse over the same particular piece of code in a particular source file and the whole IDE immediately shuts down without warning, you know you've got problems.

I suppose we could hope a delay in the release of VS 2005 could mean some of those long awaited fixes to be included, but who am I kidding? I might as well hope that I win the lottery, I've got better chances.

Requesting a delay to VS 2005 isn't a very good idea anyway. Does anyone really think it will be a more stable release? The best route is to let them release it as quickly as possible so that SP1 will hopefully be released by 2009!

As a co-worker always says when VS bugs are mentioned:

"Junior programmers!!!"
