alas, the madonna does not function. Aut For Autists & FUNctional Autism
I have thousands & $k's
of dollars worth of glass, clay, kilns, silver, etc & I want REAL WORLD tools of value, usefulness, immediacy ....EASE & success.
I also have spent an equal (but not really EQual value) amt of $ over the years on !@#$% "art" & graphics apps that require at least a couple of equally expensive/useless community college & univ (UCSD) classes to even approach 'using' them. I'm pretty much disgusted with ALL of it, except the physical art supplies.
Imagine my amazement when upon taking a class on AutoCad 2000 I could in about seven or eight weeks do 3d animations & more; raster & vector imaging so simple & intuitive it blew my mind. I've always been 'artistically' directed & physically productive, & disinclined to the engineering & math-type left brained thing. So my question & answer has to be that it's something 'wrong' with me & not the software. It does not stand to reason that photo/art/illustration/graphics software is so completely left-brained-built & dominated & impossibly ... well, I could spend all my time 'conquering Adobe' it would be a great accomplishment, I greatly admire those who do. But when, like today I want to take a photo, develop an acid-resist negative for some fine silver sheet & etch it, then get some frit & try a half-dozen different cloisonne, plique-a-jour, or even fused-glass evolutions of my original image, what are my ""Adobe Alternatives"" has to be my first consideration. (that's how I got to this site in the first place) Really all I'm asking is what do you folks suggest? I don't want a debate with people (like me?) who are compelled to justify the ever-accruing expenses, one of you called it Bloatware, of dumb crap like CorelSwamp or
AdobeAnything. I fall back on MS Word for anything that a PDF is supposed to do- too many temp - office jobs... whatever. But I'll bet you one final big thing for all you code-writers, software developers & entrepreneurs: there's likely many millions more of folks like me (=$)than there are who can, will, or have mastered Adobe & that my cave paintings will last a hell of a lot longer as well. I just want to do them prettier.
