Good points John
Cooperation between commercial interests and GNU/Linux/OSS is a superior model. Far better for everyone than either a strictly commercial model or a strictly "Stallman" model.

Without the contributions to OSS org's like OSDL and others from companies such as Intel and IBM (to name a few) Linux and OSS would have progressed far more slowly. We all benefit from this cooperation. Companies get state of the art tools for substantially less than an all MS "solution" and individual users on tight budgets can get a robust and stable OS with 1000's of apps for little or no $.

The idea that such cooperation is damaging to either commercial interests and/or OSS is wrong.
This is the best way to forward beneficial technology to all involed from large corporations to the home user.
