There's a reason for that...
The linux community is too concerned about maintaining their mystique to be helpful.

Far too often I see people dumped on linux, then abandoned when it comes to support, and going back to windows when their system starts running like crap.

There's also the issue that the software that claims to do everything the windows based software does, doesn't even come close.

Gimp is at best a poor substitute for photoshop, open office doesn't come anywhere near the level of functionality that office has (nothing to compensate for outlook, no visio, no one note, no infopath, no groove, no access), both the core media player and vlc are crash prone and buggy, the list goes on.

Until they provide a 1:1 alternative, it's just propaganda.
