If that's true, then that extremist "religious' viewpoint is not extremist, but mainstream. So it's the "extremists" that are calling the shots.

Or did you mean "...most people out there DON'T see this..."?

And I agree with you about needing the extremist viewpoint, as long as people understand that it is an extreme viewpoint and not mainstream. It's up to those in the middle to make sure that's understood.
