I believe. . .
I have no problem believing the 50% mark; first because many of us have already swapped out our Windows servers for Linux and second because if Oracle is to pursue "Java" specifically in it's Project Fusion umbrella then Linux or other UXs are the only servers currently able to handle it.

I work for two companies. One company has Oracle on HP UX for serveral different applications including ERP but also have Oracle on Windows servers. The HP UX is super stable while we are constantly battling with the Windows side of the server farm. The Windows servers are just too costly to keep in production and this is not just because of the licensing/upgrade issues.

The other company has all Linux servers except for one Windows server. As in above, the Linux servers are great for Oracle as well as for Java etc. While the single Windows server requires more support while providing less function.

So 50% is not a problem target and I'm of the opinon that it's really the five years remark that may be off base. One or two more years more likely. Also, keep in mind that "grid" computing will no doubt be the determining factor. Windows, Intel, etc. are only just now adopting 64 bit and dual core processing -- not something to crow about since 64 bit has been around for a long time.
