Lotus is a financial drain

I have never bought in to IBM and their partners are lord. Our,needs to retire, IS manager was raised on IBM. We have spent millions of dollars on developing databases from Lotus notes, a joke of an ERP system: BPCS. We have now obtained the websphere for portal usage. Now I must say the Portals are nice only because it will help me as our IS department doesn't want to take ownership of our programs. Which means they are little to know help. I am a Database Administrator by heritage but my wanting to learn more of the manufacturing process has now moved me into a Master Planner/ Data Analyst position. I am one of 3 people in our 600 employee company that knows both maufacturing and IS. The funny thing is that none of us three worj in the IS department. To know that things can be done faster and with a lower TCO irritates me. I have listened to IBM this and Lotus Notes that for so long I guess when I see articles like this it makes me a liitle sick to my stomach.
I know every major system has its week points and strong points but Lotus Notes, IBM and BPCS are referred to as a four letter words in 80% of our employees. Our owners know manufacturing. They know zip about IT. They are relying on our IS manager to be shooting straight with them. That he is leading them in the right direction. He has tunnel vision. I'm sorry I take that back he has no vision. He seems to be merely a puppet for the consultants he uses.

To summarize IBM 50 - 50 and Lotus notes sucks b@##s. Also I am not a microsoft geek. I just want people to perform and my computer to perform even faster. Lotus "Office" is like making chicken salad out of chicken S##t. You could eat but it leaves one helluva taste in your mouth.
