Once again...

...people are prepared to throw out the baby with the bath water. Non-compete clauses have been standard in employment contracts for years (predating even Microsoft), yet all of a sudden NC clauses are evil and the tool of the Devil (Microsoft). Just like with software patents, which no one cared about until Microsoft got involved. Just like with software EULAs, which long predate Microsoft (although some seem to think Microsoft invented EULAs). I wouldn't be surprised if anti-Microsoft forces lobbied to eliminate the Department of Labor if they thought it would somehow hamper Microsoft.

And Google knows that with Microsoft's reputation, there will be a great number who will believe anything Google claims about Microsoft, evidence to the contrary or not.
