- Big surprise?

Its a known fact that key Unix copyrights are to this day officially registered to Novell. SCO tried over and over to get Novell to transfer these copyrights to SCO. Novell refused. Finally SCO attempted to file for their own copyrights.
What does all this mean? If one believes SCO, it means that SCO bought Unix and absent mindedly neglected to ask for the copyrights at the time of the sale. This is sort of like buying a car and forgetting to ask for the ownership papers. Worse than that, SCO kept paying rent on something they thought they owned (or at least something they now think they own). Anyone who can't see reality here is beyond hope. When the actual documents are presented to a jury, SCO is very likely to be toast, and complete ownership of Unix is likely to revert to Novell. Jurys don't take kindly to blatent breaches of contracts. Watch the little worm wiggle. It knows its a short timer and will be pulling all the strings it can find as this one heads to court. There is going to be lots of egg on lots of faces by the time this has played out. - Posted by: George Mitchell Posted on: 07/29/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
