Situational ethics
Where Microsoft is concerned, anything goes. It's a crime against God that Microsoft hasn't been destroyed and Bill Gates jailed. Collateral damage (in the form of out-of-work programmers) is acceptable. Out-of-work programmers caused by outsourcing, however, can't be tolerated. Companies must employ only Americans; it would be un-patriotic to do otherwise. Didn't you hear? It's OK to be nationalistic again. The 50s are back!

Any company trying to save money by switching to OSS is in tune with the times (I dare you to find a single company that re-invests its savings in new hires). Any company trying to save money by outsourcing is merely greedy.
