A heck of a good bargain, compared to your demi-god
at $1000 + a server for this free software, what a bargin ---

Yeah, almost as good as the $1,200.00 + 40.00 for each employee that needs to connect to it + $thousands more for software to make it useful + $250.00 per incident for support + $thousands lost in productivity due to the weekly virus outbreaks + $thousands in overtime for all the patching, patching, patching, patching + $thousands for firewall protection + $thousands for AV software. Compared to the best from M$, I'd say it's a heck of a bargain.

Of course, all you workstation software is free, you office suite is free, there are no CALs to worry about, iptables firewall is free, AV is needed only to protect your network from M$ machines, there are no browser vulnerabilities to destroy you machine, there are no $10,000.00 per processor fees to use the RDBMS, which is also free.

Of course, the Redhat software is free. You are paying for support. Tell me, what is one year of support from M$?

With a competent Linux admin on staff, you don't need to buy the support. Just get rid of one you your paper mcse types. Most Linux admins know M$ junk better than the mcse staff you have, after all, they've had to get the proprietary bloatware to actually work in a mixed environment. I doubt you have any mcse types that can do that.

To top it off, no vendor lock-in, which is priceless.
