How are you calculating that RedHat is the the same price?

Let's say you have a server doing file/print for 1000 users (assuming Server 2003 can handle the workload happy

Let's not even count the cost of the server software.

1000 Client access licenses for Redhat = $0.00
1000 Client access licenses for Microsoft = $29,000 - whatever volume discount you can get.

It is the cost of client licenses that makes Microsoft expensive.

Plus the cost of patching your Windows servers, rebuilding after installing patches, rebuilding after being hacked, rebuilding after applying service packs, dinners out, flowers, jewelry, etc. to try to repair relationship with wife after excessive overtime due to patching, divorce lawyers, alimony, child support, therapy, ulcers, ...
