Questioning market share?
If you want to start questioning market share, then you have to question all methods of collecting this data.

How about browsers? How do you account for the great number of browsers that pretend that they are IE simple because web developers are so stupid that they won't let other browsers into their sites enough though any browser would work very well with their content.

How about OS? Market Share is typically calculated by sales data. So, how do you account for all those Mac users who buy their machines at a once every 5-6 year clip, instead of the once every 2-3 years for Wintel customers? Or worse yet, that Microsoft calculates how many customers they have by how many Windows packages are sent out. Who cares if the customer actually ended up with Linux on the machine after dumping XP.

Don't talk about variances of market share when it hurts Microsoft's numbers until you're ready to complain about the variances that help them.
