Colossal waste
As the IBM guy said, there has not been a new version of OS/2 released in 9 years and yet OS/2 is STILL enjoyable to use, more reliable, and far more secure than Windows XP.

It takes many years of work and a lot of money to develop something as complex as OS/2 and OS/2 is deliberately throwing the OS/2 software away rather than spinning off the OS/2 code to some company that would be a little more enthusiastic about updating and selling it. What a colossal waste of a lot of valuable intellectual property!!
