Think Outside the Box of Stored Procedures
Stored procedures is no panacea of determining if a product such as MySQL lives up to other proprietary Databases.

I use Oracle (Stored Procedures) and JSP at work. But on special project utilizing MySQL/PHP (LAMP), I'm able to emulated stored procedures with the use of PHP Includes and Fuctions.

I have a PHP include at at the beginning of my script that contains a function that performs the MySQL Query. I then use a PHP function call to call that function with the relevant parameters.

I get the speed of PHP and MySQL (within LAMP) with the pseudo emulation of MySQL stored procedures in my PHP include library.

And the price is right.

So if MySQL comes out with functioning Stored Procedures... My comment will be.... "That's nice." Just don't take away what's really importat to me. It's speed, reliablity and ease of use.
