Just a guess
Suspecting Oracle might foresee ther commoditization of the RDBMS. This could be the strategic importance of the PeopleSoft buy. Sure MS SQL will be first, but as MySQL grows likely it will threaten the industrial strength guys - Oracle and DB2.
