seems silly to me
A processor is a processor. Dual core or not it's still 1 processor. Why should this be any differnt then running 1 3.4 Ghz processor or 4 1 Ghz processors which equals the 1 3.4 ghz processor.

So now you can have one processors doing what 2 processors did using dual core. How is that any differnt than my example of using a faster processor to do the work of 4 processors?

I'm no expert on the hardware but it seems kind of like a good reason not to buy dual core processors to me.
