Try Open Source ... it's cool
I grew up with Microsoft and VB. But anymore, I am running Mozilla, MySQL, PHP, etc. For my job, I have to use both Windows and Unix/Linux. These applications run nicely in both environments.

And I have never seen a pop-up yet.

I understand that most companies embed spyware ... and if there were more commercial companies producing Linux apps, those would likely have spyware too. Let the buyer beware! However, I have a real problem with integrating it into the OS (i.e. Longhorn).
