What a Load Of Junk ...
First of all ... 3/4 of the population access the Internet through non-browser applications? Wow, no kidding?!?! When did the "Internet" become synonymous with "www". Since the beginning you have had FTP, gopher, archie, mail, chat, etc.

Searches on the desktop?!? What a genuinely stupid idea. I guess that since most of the browsers now block pop-up ads, the Marketers had to push the potential for displaying these ads back onto the OS.

Tell me that these new apps won't report back to the home base, and won't display ads. Go ahead ... I double-dog dare you. Ha!
