For the exact same reason M$ announced it would indemnify its customers!
The whole idea is to make your customers not have to worry about the possibility of frightening litigation. This gives a kind of psychological cushion so that there won't be any FUD involved when trying to make software decisions (no one should have to make their business less efficient by using M$ crapware).
So according to your logic, M$ must feel that the plethora of antitrust cases against them has serious merit, and could undermine their future business dealings. By the way Bitty, how is Microsoft doing against Timeline lately? Wouldn't it suck if Timeline won the case and then asked that all M$ products with Timeline's IP in it had to be taken off the shelves?? Boy, I bet that strikes the most nerve-wracking, paralyzing fear into your hypocritical soul. Hey, but feel free to keep trolling on. Periodically we need to show everyone on this board why Microsoft just sucks and linux will soon rule the world!
