No spin at all involved...just the plain truth..
...which I've noticed not many people at all like on this site. You said the hardware guys are trying to lower the price of software so they can sell more hardware. But if that were the case than anything Microsoft would be burdensome and cut into their profits, possibly by making it so that less hardware is sold. Um, where are you finding any spin in this?
The crux of the farcical "antitrust" trial vs. M$ was over the overbundling and illegal shut out of Microsoft's competitors. No one ever complained about Microsoft software being too cheap. If anything this would be spin, as the exact opposite is the case (their software is waaaay too expensive).
Intel is not trying to kiss any butt here. They just see a market opening up and are looking to capitalize on it, nothing more or less..
