Here's some proof
Looking at the general job numbers (not just tech):

The last peak in the payroll numbers (number of non-farm employees in the workplace nationwide) was 132,546,000 in Feb., 2001, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The number of non-farm employees in the workplace nationwide is now 133,537,000. There are now more people working than there were 4 years ago. The figures have nothing to do with people dropping off the unemployment roles. These are based on the numbers that employers are reporting to the Bureau on the number of people they have working for them.
