Can you say class action lawsuit?
This "feature" goes well beyond anything Adobe legally had the responsibility or the right to do. I object to this on two counts:

1) It prevents manipulation of legal images
2) Consumers were not notified of this change

1) In an earlier message, Mr. Povimage described how images legal in the US cannot be manipulated by Photoshop. What about for users in other countries? Does it apply Mexican law to determine what is legal to manipulate in Mexico? Canada? Europe? Given that they even block images legal in the US, I highly doubt that.

Adobe is not a law enforcement agency. They have no right to arbitrarily restrict what can be done with their product if it is not specified in the license agreement or the law.

Why is anyone manipulating an image similar to currency automatically presumed guilty? Does the software "phone home" and alert local law enforcement agencies of the supposed illegal activity? Welcome to 1984 people (OK, so Orwell was 20 years off in his prediction..).

2) The worst part about this is that Adobe didn't tell anyone about it. Now, if the software worked perfectly and only blocked illegal images (applied differently by country, and the threshold updated instantly with any changes in the law), then they arguably did not need to. However, since this restricts legal use of their product.. I think consumers have a right to know the software is unnecessarily being disabled.

While I had no intention of upgrading to Adobe CS (Photoshop 6 still is more than I need :->), unless this is rectified, I never will. Nor will I purchase an Adobe product. I do not trust this company anymore.

On another note, I'm surprised no one has commented how good this is for open source software. If other companies violate their customers trust as Adobe has, OSS will flourish because of (justified) FUD that the product unnecessarily restricts legal work.
