Isn't it all about the money
'A' graders (presumably what Sorkin is) can pretty much sit down and write anything they want. You want a spreadsheet? Its so easy these days, they could do it in less than a year. A CRM tool? 9 months, a search engine? 6 months.

So they could work for MS, earn 80k a year or whatever pennies MS pays currently and make dinky little widgets while their brain mulches to compost.
...Or they can work harder in smaller companies that have room to grow, with a much bigger potential reward.

I think its all about the money.
