Perfectly simple
My favorite comment from the article:

... Wilson said he believes that the expanded CRM package will appeal more to larger companies than its predecessor. In some cases, he said, the applications already have been adopted by customers with Siebel and SAP software in place in the name of getting up and running faster than they might have with those companies' products.

A company pays the price for Siebel or SAP, but in order to have something actually up and running they purchase Microsoft's CRM.

Could this be a simple, cheap solution with a lot of available tools and applications that installs easily and requires little training and reasonably works well?
From Microsoft? Nah. They've never pulled off anything like that before.
