Unfortunately that's not the only thing
standing in it's way. Otherwise, I submit Linux would already be where it's fervent supporters wish it was (to the extent possible, anyway). The problem with Linux is it just isn't compatible enough yet with mainstream hardware. I have two printers at home that I can't get my Linux box to play nice with, and I'm a tech with years of experience supporting Windows and *nix. My digital camera doesn't paly nice. WPA wifi wouldn't work on my laptop (WEP was not an option, so I went back to XP). Those kind of things are what's keeping Linux down, so to speak.
