And what browser does pop-ups use?
You have to go to great lengths to prevent IE from launching, for any number of reasons, automatically.

And then there's that whole Windows update thing.....what browser do you have to use for that.....?

True choice would be the ability to uninstall the browser if you choose. Try "LitePC", for pay of course (free for Win98), to uninstall IE, and see how many apps won't work (Outlook, etc).

The reason may be tired, but it is still very valid. happy
