How is it not about the software? It's all about the software Anton, otherwise a PC is nothing more than a paper weight. All the software these people would or could need comes with Linux. And it works just fine, and it's pretty darn intuitive as well.
The same restrictions of willingness to use and learn can apply to anything in life Anton, not just Operating Systems. I was simply pointing out that the only restrictions are the ones placed by oneself upon oneself.
Indirectly I was pointing out the restrictions that are imposed by an American company on a foreign entity.
In the US the impression that easy to use software is on Windows, and that is simply not true. Both systems provide very simple to use software that is also of value. And flip the coin and both systems have software that is cumbersome and complex and just by that alone reduces any potential value to nill.
You are trying to defend from the bottom of a hill. Obviously you have no experience with Linux or you would be a little more open minded. But instead of taking the plunge and checking it out, you would rather make false statements about Linux. I on the other hand use multiple versions of Linux as well as FreeBSD and Windows. The only area I lack experience is with a Mac, and my time in the store drooling over them doesn't count.
Let's see Anton, let's stack OS skills. Below is a list of OS's that I have used extensively and or administered:
Microsoft:
Win95 Used
Win98 and 98SE Used / Administered
WinME Used
WinNT Used
Win2K Used / Administered
WinXP -Home -Pro Used / Administered
Linux:
Mandrake 6.0, 6.2, 6.5, 7.0, 7.2 Used / Administered
Mandriva 10.0 Used / Administered
SuSE 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, 9.0, 9.1, 9.2, 9.3 Used / Administered
Slackware 8.0, 10.0 Used / Administered
Ubuntu 5.04 Used / Administered
Red-Hat 6.0, 6.2, 8.0 Used / Administered
Non-Microsoft / Non-Linux OS's:
FreeBSD 4.5, 4.7 Used / Administered
BeOS 5.0 Pro Used / Administered
So who has the better range of skills Anton, or better yet which of us would be a better judge as to what is ready and what is not? - Posted by: Linux User 147560 Posted on: 06/30/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
