Ooooooo, good move for MS
I see, it could be thought of as sort of a teaser, or trial version. If the people using it like what they see, it could very well entice them into buying the full version. This could be especially good if the users have had any difficulty using Linux.

That sort of thing works a lot, the free or low cost trial version. And for some, especially lower income people that may want to try it first without a big investment, the lower cost version may suit all of their needs.
