But it's not about the software.
Software is only a way something can be accomplished.

Most people are not programmers and have no intention of even writing a macro.

Maybe the sophistication level is higher than it was years ago in which a woman interviewed on a local television station said, approximately, that her child has a computer, so he has a future.

Each of your statements is reasonable, though some are easy to dispute. For instance, the standard is what people use, not what a small group opposed to the standard might decide.
But in each case, you're talking from the point of view of the inherent quality of the software, and not its usefulness.

When you say:

There are no restrictions with Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD other than the persons willingness to learn and grow.

Of course there are restrictions: the willingness to learn and use them.

If I want a job, I will do better knowing Windows.
If I want to sell an application to as many people as possible, I have a better chance on Windows.
If I want to use easy software, I will try Windows because the impresion is its easy to use.

Sometimes these attitudes are summarized as momentum, the continuance of past impressions. Momentum by itself can produce Wins.
