Let's talk about easy. Easy is Green Screen 5250 Emulation.

Software that just lets you fill in the damn blanks and that is that.

What MS does wrong, well that is simple. They have merged the world of the User and and Admin. First mistake. Giving the Server a GUI. There has never been a need for that. Not once since the invention of the abacus. What does Microsoft do? They require the GUI!!!
Second Mistake, overloading software with features and toolsets that allow for any idiot to build Databases and or Applications. The software is both slow and innefficent. Not to mention limited in functionality.

Third Mistake, the Wizard. A pointless tool for people who don't care to dabble. If I see one more powerpoint presentation with an embedded bar chart with the default colors, I am removing all of the wizards from Office, no questions asked.

Applications programming should require time and consideration. All points should be considered. Right now we have a world full of programmers who thing they can churn out a database application with the speed of "Hello World" in any given langauge, barring COBOL, and still expected it to work. And who do we have to thank for this mess. None other than Microsoft. Good job foiling the IT world. And the IT people blame Open Source for not having a job, boy are they misguided.
