You're missing the point
Although I don't agree with the ABM party line that MS never invents anything (they do), their real strength as a company is making things easier than their competitors. Sometimes easier leads to less secure: BAD Microsoft! But often it provides real value to users and companies. The features I pointed out are incredibly easy to use - easy enough that people will actually use them. Not often the case for many of their competitors.

While I'm at it, I see lots of funny comments on ZDNET coming from propeller heads... "I'll just install a new GUI on my Linux kernel if the one I'm using now has a security hole!" or "All I have to do is recompile and everything works great!" Well I have news for you. 99% of the world has no idea what you're talking about and aren't at all interested in finding out. Most people like software to come ready to use and easy to use out of the box. No software company always delivers on that promise but MS's strength over the years is that they do everything they can to make their stuff easy to use.
