1. does lotus allow web based collaboration like sharepoint? (do you know what sharepoint is? if not you should give it a look)
The domino server comes with tools to do both client and web-based collaboration. What's even better is that, if you dont' like their implementation, you can create your own. Having done some Domino development, I can assure that it is very easy to do so. Collaboration and security are two of the biggest seling points of domino. And, as an email client, it beats the hell out of outlook.


2. how is lotus remote access? do they have a web client? RDP over HTTP/s?
Remote access is fantastic with a Notes client. You do not need to be able to connect to the server. You make local replicas of the databases you need, and work directly from your machine. The local replicas have all of the security of the server built into it. Domino ships with an HTTP server. The applications you build for the Notes client can often be used with web-based clients with little to no modifications.

I haven't checked out sharepoint. Since we are not an MS using company, I probably won't do so any time soon.
