Agreed.. M$ crippled win98 with their final patch CD..
M$ is famous for it's many underhanded tricks.

The final win98 patch CD from M$ crippled the explorer(My computer/Network Neighborhood/etc) and a number of network functions.

One specific area damaged was MS/DOS functionality with network drives. (You can read files.. but can't write without crashing.)

You've been warned, those who do not learn the lessons of history, are doomed to repeat them.
