I never said that. What I meant is American software engineers have a much better(higher) lifestyle than their counterparts in india. (ofcourse I exagerrated a little bit)

I think I can speak for a portion of the population. I am an american software enginer. 95% of my colleagues drive either a car or an SUV to work. Most of us have bought a 4 bedroom house. And buying a house have become a craze for some guys. Yes really; some of my s/w engineer friends have two houses now. One to live and one for investment. And when we are at home either the ac/heater is running depending on the weather. Most of us have atleast one PC and a laptop. So most of what I said is true for most people who is working with me.

I have visited Bangalore on an official rip. Most of what I said is true for an indian software engineer who live there. If you dont believe go to Bangalore and see for yourself.

I dont know about the people who are not having jobs. All of my friends have job. Some of them had lost their programer jobs. But they somehow manage to find out another one. Actually including me. And we continue living the same lifestyle.

So basically my point is when an american s/w engineer is on job, he lives a much better lifestyle than an indian software who is on job in india. And that is what matters. That is what makes all the difference in the cost.
