You sir are politically incorrect CORRECT
"Whatever happened to merit?"

Simple answer and I do expect to get flamed bad here. Promotion, raises, etc based solely on merit went out the window when someone discovered that they could use their race or sex as an excuse to sue for discrimination. Let me make this clear an INDIVIDUAL not an entire race caused this problem.

Fear of lawsuit motivates many employers to promote, etc those that really should be shown the door for incompetence. Sorta like the grade schools today huh? I have minorities and females that are in my employ. Each are as qualified for the jobs as the next person. I was sued once because I did not hire an applicant. The lawsuit was based on alledged "discrimination" on my part. The case was thrown out but damn it was uncomfortable. The only provable discrimination on my part was I found out the guy's resume was a lie.

Have you ever read the employment disclaimers that are very often posted in dayrooms and customer service areas? Those are printed by the Fed and trust me they are lawsuit traps. If you ever get a chance to read the Federal regulations governing discimination you will know precisely why merit is no longer the single most important requirement for promotion pay raises etc.
