Seriously, if you read ZD Net you'll notice a
Wintel bias. Most of ZD Net's advertisers are
connected with the Wintel faction. That doesn't
mean they don't have a point or their point is
incorrect. You just have to realize that it's
easier to call Apple or Linux unfair than it is for
them to irritate their advertisers. They do
however report negatives of Microsoft and
Intel, but they don't play up little tiny things like
the fact that Apple is charging for something
that they used to offer free. You will see a
similar bias for Apple at MacCentral and Mac
sites. You will see an obvious Wintel Bias at
CNET and other places where the majority of
the advertisers are part of the Wintel alliance.
Another example of this bias is when CNET
and ZD Net put out stories blowing way out of
proportion some minor security flaw in OSX or
Linux when there are over 200,000 Windows
Viruses compared to zero for OSX.

Apple is charging for iLife mostly because they
are offering the suite of applications as a set
and the size of the set will probably be 2
DVDs. The $49.95 is more to recoup the
delivery cost more than to recoup the
programming cost. Any of these programs
