Multiple languages/one interface? Visual Studio has done that for years
That is NOT an innovation that Eclipse came up with.

The whole point of Visual Studio and, for that matter, the .NET Framework, is to gives developers choice of programming language? Want to write in C? No problem? VB? No problem? Cobol? No problem? C#? No problem. Perl? No problem. The list goes on. The fatal error of Java is that is is a one stop shop. Java or nothing. The thing is, there are millions of developers who know other languages and who aren't interested in throwing away those skills to live in a Java only world.

Borland actually has a pretty smart approach. They're building dev tools for Java and the .NET Framework/Windows. They're not betting the farm on either.
