Windows XP a new OS?
From the story: "While the company spends billions of dollars developing new versions of Windows and its Office desktop software, many customers are slow to give up older versions of software that's paid for and works just fine."

How much time and energy did they spend on WinXP GUI tweaks over the same old engine? If they spent billions for the Tele-tubbies interface, they got ripped off.

I'd guess MS spent more money separating XP Home Edition from XP Professional Edition -- just so they could squeeze out a few more bucks from businesses and give home uses the shaft. Not exactly the kind of innovation customers are clamoring for.
