I published two scientific papers by using Linux.
In Life Science study, Linux is much much more versatile than any other platforms. As I mentioned in this board all the time, those very important structural biology programs like VMD (has 64-bit version for Linux, now), MolMol, O, Chimera, PyMol, O, CCP4....are working like charms under Linux and you have so many other countless software ready for you to try and do you work.

One cannot compare two things when he/she only knows (or enjoys) one of them very well; too many people tend to do so whenever they have chance to defend something they like. I happen to know both of MS Windows and Linux very well and use them intensively everyday in the lab. For me, Linux is a better choice for my "real work" than MS Windows does and I mean every words of them.

According to all the past post you (No_Ax_to_Grind) had in this board, I certainly know where you stand. The simple sentence you wrote here also gives me an impression that you are just kidding to some degree (I could be wrong). But the usage of Linux is beyond any doubt. Linux does not have to trash MS Windows before it can be claimed to be a successful one, it is a successful one already.
