Interestingly enough, Jackson didn't appear to start off as particularly anti-MS; he even approved a DOJ settlement that the previous judge nixed as contrary to the public interest. By the summer of 2000, though, there were comments in the pro-MS press to the effect that Jackson was a terrible judge and that anything he decided was going to be overturned on appeal (something that would have resulted in an MS employee being jailed for contempt of court), so I'm guessing that something happened to change Jackson's attitude before that time.

Possibly, it was the insolence of MS executives and lawyers, but that's just a guess.
