It's called economics . . .
It's not the price that is the problem, it's the 95% . . .

Essentially, when a company owns almost all of a particular market, they have the freedom to do almost anything they want, and the consumer is left with almost no choice. They can raise prices to unreasonable levels, leave bugs in the software, stop innovating, etc - all with almost no effort, and with no worries about competition.

A monopoly (or near monopoly) is harmful, especially if misused. Our current economic system relies on fair competition; it does not rely on monopolies.

So - in the end, your comparison is actually a bad one, because it is not the price that matters so much as the amount of control over the market.
