Only part of the story

The benchmarks only show the emulated speed, for most Mac
users typical applications spend 70-80% in the OS (calls to APIs).
These will all be native under 10.5, so the emulator only has to
work on the other 20%. This was why the 680x0 emulator for the
PPC was so successful (its raw performance was not so good)
and improved the more libraries Apple migrated to native PPC.

For data crunching intensive users the emulation performance
will be poor, also altivec is not emulated (a reason I thought
migration away from PPC was going to happen).

But it has been done, we move on into the dark world of little-
endian-ness:-(
