Unfortunately...
Most of the Apple/Microsoft love/hate relationship took place before Sir Tim fathered the WWW. For an excellent review of the PC industry of the time, read Cringely's [a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/103-1878558-3650230" alt="Amazon Link"]Accidental Empires[/a]. It's a very entertaining and fascinating look at one of the greatest technical revolutions ever.

Also, the precise details of much of the Apple/Microsoft dispute were never made public. It is general knowledge that Microsoft developed Word and Excel on Mac first, that Office was released on Mac first (in 1987 , 3 years before a workable version of Windows was available) and that Apple fought bitterly with Microsoft over the GUI thing. It's interesting to see that despite Microsoft's clear rip-off of the Mac GUI, Apple couldn't make any copyright claims stick. Then you look to now, when nearly any idea is granted a patent despite what appears to be clear evidence of prior art (Eolas anyone?).

BTW, IBM also had a big spat with MS about the same time - they were oringinally co-developers of OS/2. MS split and did Windows, IBM stayed with OS/2. The similarities between OS/2 and Windows 3.1 were even more marked than with Mac OS 6 or 7.
