OK, let's rephrase the question
What has Microsoft Innovated that has been successful?

Pointless ideas like the Tablet PC, which was building on the already present ideas such as the Newton and the PDAs and the Smart Display which was a glorified DumbTerminal don't really cut it as innovations.

Innovations are like the Apple Newton, seem to often get over-looked by Microsoft.
