Pharmacuticals are a unique situation unlike other industries
FIrst of all I fail to see why research scientist would care who
pays their checks...money is money after all.

Second once competition is removed and industry secrets can be
shared between research centers the free flow of informationg
gained from various research projects could yeild tremendous
beneifts alone.

Then we could change and creat incentive packages pased on a
patch or treatment being far less valuable than a legitimate cure
. Still a BETTER treatment/patch does have value and should be
rewarded...but a true CURE would give the research tean that
creates it a paycheck for life for that would be the value of such
to the society at large. A healthier society would benefit
tremendously from such.

As for payment we sell the drugs back to the public at cost. In
theory loosing nothing on the exchange but never gouging the
public at large. which is my only problem . Yes the program
should pay for itself..nothing more and nothing less. Still the
price of drugs to the general public would drip dramatically
especially if we also regulate the Pharmacists as Roger
proposed.

Since the Pharmacutical industry has our health and in many
cases our very lives over us they hold a unique power over the
consumer. That and the fact that the individual companies
rarely if ever fight over the same illness there is little to no
economic pressure or competition to keep prices down or in
check at all. Unlike a car dealer or for that matter any other
seller of a product we in many cases MUST to business with
them and ONLY them and they know that all too well!
