People need to earn a living
As companies embrace open-source they still need to make a profit. Nokia apparently sees a maturing open-source approach that allows companies not only to use Linux but also contribute to it and still be able to produce a product that pays their bills. Just as it is becoming obvious that everyone benefits from clean air and water, everyone can benfit from clean operating systems and other open-source programs.
