Actually, they are buying...
So sorry that I don't spend $10 on a $6 product.

Every Indian that has to come here to fix whatnot has to spend his salary here and not get the majority of the benefits like the rest of us.

Last I checked, the economy is buying outside their borders. For so long, they had crappy government manufactured cars (could barely get to 60mph, and comfort was as much an afterthough as Windows security). Now, they are importing lots of styles. This has spilled into other markets too, like computer chips, clothing (god their fabric sucked), and cell phones!! Sure the majority of these products aren't from the US, but eh...

Less than a decade ago, more than 1/3 of the world's poor lived in India. A land mass with 1/6 of the world's population and 1/3 the size of the US. It will take time for them to pick themselves up off their knees. In a decade or so, if India gets off its Indian time problem (everything is 1 hour late), I expect the Indian economy to join their more successful brethern.

I am more worried about China. It seems to be considering putting up trade barriers to foster certain businesses at home. But if those businesses are inefficient, they will harm China. Not to mention the WTO will eventually allow others to fight back. I doubt they will go too far, and hopefully the last 50 years have taught India not to do this.

In the mean time, we can't just say they will buy from us. We need to produce something of equal value to trade back the dollars we traded to them.
