Apples and oranges
It doesn't make much sense to me to attempt a comparison between three different classes of Internet applications. Web browsers are used actively for locating information, doing research, carrying out interactive transactions, etc. Instant messaging applications are used actively for immediate, direct, person-to-person communications. Media players, using Internet, are commonly used passively to listen to music while doing other things, frequently with no relationship whatsoever to the Internet (word processing, programming, etc.) And then there are background applications that work during computer idle time transferring data analysis information (SETI, cancer research, etc.).

It only makes sense that Internet-connected applications that can be used passively or in background with non-Internet applications are likely to have a statistical advantage.

Message created using ScanSoft Dragon NaturallySpeaking? Professional 7.0 and/or ParaGraph PenOffice? 2.5 CalliGrapher? handwriting recognition software. Please excuse any unintentional errors. I never make errors, so any you find are obviously the fault of Dragon or CalliGrapher?. But not me. Really. Trust me?I wouldn't lie to you as far as you know.
